The pleasant weather continues to cooperate as we arrived to Smara, an ancient city on the crossroads of Saharan trading routes. The day finished without crashes or injuries and the field is looking forward to the last stage of the Lite race. Antonio Valero continues to increase his lead atop of the overall standings and his lead now stands at 1h 30m over second place Alberto Arra. The achievement of the day goes to the Wings team Patrol with Alexandr Semenov behind the wheel and Jan Režný navigating. They finished the stage in fourth place and first amongst the cars moving up to 6th place overall. Multiple Dakar winner Josef Macháček piloted his quad to a 3rd place finish and 4th place overall just 6 minutes behind the 3rd place Bowler driven by Dario Garcia and co-piloted by Fernando Aceyton. The UTV driver Jose Sanchez Tapia maintains the lead in the UTV class. The fast pace will continue tomorrow with a 480 km special finishing in Dakhla back on the Atlantic coast. The coastal winds may play role as the kicked up sand will reduced visibility and the trophies in the Lite race are still up for grabs. We will bring you all the details from Dakhla tomorrow.
