Stage 10 left Chinguetti along the same route used the previous day before heading south west towards the coast. After a technical descend into a valley the competitors faced an expansive dune where a small mistake resulted in long minutes of digging. After several kilometers of a hard piste relief the competitors had to cross another band of lower, but no less tricky, dunes to the finish line in Akjoujt. This was the quintessential Mauritanian stage with all the fine sand one could ever wish for.
The competition continues to heat up with fierce battles for the winners podium in both the bike and car classes. In motorcycles Victor Rivera narrowly won the stage one minute ahead of Julian Merino and Antonio Ramos who tied for second place with identical time. Amongst the cars Rally for Africa scored an important victory and made up enough time on struggling Glad to move into first place overall. Second place in the stage belongs to the Wings Toyota closely followed by the Merino Land Cruiser. Both Jose Sanchez and Erik Lesak finished the stage and continue on their victory march towards Dakar in the buggy and quad classes.
